Your Church Webpage - Update your church's image on the web:

Every church in our district already has a webpage! Every United Methodist church in the US has a webpage provided by United Methodist Communications on the Find-A-Church website. Want to see yours? Go to the Churches page and click on your church name. Want to see what a church can do with that page? Go to Stonewall UMC's page! Want to make YOUR page look better? Go to the For Church Communicators page to see how. Reminder: If your church has already developed your own website, be sure it is listed on the Find-a-Church webpage and consider adding a link to your site on this website's churches page!

Promote Church Events - Get your events on the map!
Keep up with district and conference events.

The district now has a way for your church to highlight its community events. And you can see what others are doing - and get involved. Make sure YOUR church shows up on the Church Happenings page. Email information about your community events to Sue Eubanks in the district offce. And Don't forget to check the Conference calendar for events of interest too.

Pastor Profiles - Due in the District office by February 15th
  • Each year, each pastor is asked to provide a brief document that reflects the pastor's current gifts, evidence of God's grace, professional experience and expectations, as well as the needs and concerns of the pastor's spouse and family.
  • The pastor profile is developed in concert with the district superintendent. The pastor profiles are collected by the District Superintendent and used as aids in the pastoral appointment process.
  • This year, return your form via email, fax, in person or by mail to the district office. Please complete, sign, and return your pastor profile by February 15, 2009.
  • For questions or clarification, please contact the New Bern District office.

PASTOR ASSESSMENTS - DUE IN THE DISTRICT OFFICE BY DECEMBER 15, 2008

Annual Evaluations of Ministry Effectiveness in the Local Church

The purpose of this process is for the S/PPRC and pastor to work together to do everything they can to make the church stronger. When the pastor is encouraged with positive affirmations and hears the truth spoken in love when there is room for growth, the church benefits.

We will use the same forms as we did last year. Each member of the S/PPRC is asked to complete the Pastoral Assessment Tool independently of one another. The chairperson then compiles the responses into one consensus document. The pastor is asked to complete the self-assessment separately and share the self-assessment with the S/PPRC. Once there is agreement as a result of a healthy discussion, then pastor and committee work together to formulate the Development Action Plan. All documents should be completed and sent to the District Office by December 15, 2008.

We pray that God will guide pastors & S/PPRC as they share this valuable time together and pray that hearts will be open to hear as pastors share the local church’s influence and responsibility in the area of effective ministry.

I am grateful for the time and care you give to this process. It is important as we all seek to be our very best for God’s church. Trust God to lead you as we open the doors to our hearts. Do not hesitate to call the District Superintendent for assistance.
